This is the first TMJ webinar of its kind, a 5-part series about TMJ issues in the horse. Identifying them, what contributes to them and how to address them.
Maureen brings to you in the first part of the 5-part series, an introduction to the anatomy of the TMJ, the muscles of mastication (chewing), symptoms of TMJ problems, practices of equine dentistry, ways to help keep the TMJ healthy and prevent damage to the joint and how to prevent colic and improve biomechanics of the horse.
Part 2
This webinar continues on from our first "TMJ of the Horse" webinar and is the second webinar in our 5-part TMJ series. In this presentation, we expand upon the basic anatomy of the TMJ of the equine which was presented in the previous "TMJ of the Horse" webinar. In this second part of our TMJ series, we will introduce the complexities of the horse's TMJ versus the human TMJ, with an introduction to how the horse chews (mastication) - what is correct or incorrect. We wrap the webinar with a brief introduction to equine dentistry and the horse's mouth.
Part 3
In this presentation, we discuss how TMJ pain affects the horse's inability to chew and the importance of correct chewing for good digestion. We discuss what is healthy movement of chewing/mastication of the horse. We learn ways to assess your horse's chewing with an introduction to dentistry-wearing patterns. We wrap up with Q & A's about your horse.

In this presentation, we discuss equine dental anatomy, physiology and the development of the teeth of the horse and dental wearing patterns.
